The Year Book of Poetry is an anthology for selected contemporary poems from the German- speaking area .

History and conception

Since 1979, Christoph Buchwald has been publishing the yearbook of poetry - together with a changing publisher - in which new poems by well-known and still unknown authors from the German-speaking area are presented and current developments in poetry are shown. The respective co-editors are (with the exception of the critic Michael Braun ) authors who have more or less regularly published poems in the Yearbook of Poetry . Poetological essays reflecting the possibilities of contemporary poetry, as well as editors' afterwords are also included.

The yearbook has been published by Schöffling & Co. since 2017. Before it was published every two years by the Deutsche Verlags-Anstalt , Claassen (1979–1981), Luchterhand (1984–1993), CHBeck (1995–2004) and S. Fischer (2005 -2009). In 2007 the 25th yearbook of poetry was published , which gathers selected poems from the anthologies published up to then . In 34 years - from 1979 to 2013 - 29 yearbooks of poetry with a volume of 115 to 411 pages have been published as paperback, hardcover or flap brochures, in which poems by around 850 authors have been published.
