Joe Staley (* the 30th August 1984 in Rockford , Michigan ) is a former American American football poker players in the National Football League (NFL). He played for the San Francisco 49ers as an offensive tackle from 2007 to 2019 . Staley was nominated six times for the Pro Bowl and was elected to the National Football League 2010s All-Decade Team .

college

Staley, who was also a successful athlete in high school , attended Central Michigan University and played college football for their team, the Chippewas . He started as a tight end , but was then used in the offensive line due to his height and was able to convince in his new position.

NFL

Staley was selected in the first round of the 2007 NFL Draft as the 28th player of the San Francisco 49ers . He was able to establish himself immediately and was not only used as a starter in every game in his rookie season , but was also the offense on every single move .

In 2008 he was able to utilize a regained Fumble for a touchdown .

In 2012 he was able to reach the Super Bowl XLVII with his team , which was lost to the Baltimore Ravens .

Because of his consistently good performance, his contract has already been extended prematurely several times. In summer 2014, the 49ers tied him to themselves until 2019, and in summer 2019 the contract was extended to 2021.

In his final season he missed nine games due to injury. Staley was used in all play-off games and reached Super Bowl LIV with the 49ers , which was lost to the Kansas City Chiefs at 20:31 . On April 25, 2020, Staley announced his resignation.
