Joseph Gorizia

Joseph Görz (born May 9, 1810 in Bosenheim , † January 18, 1900 in Mainz ) was a lawyer and member of the German Reichstag .

Life

Joseph Görz was the son of the district taker Georg Friedrich Görz (1774-1845) and his wife Charlotte nee Müller. Joseph Gorizia was of the Catholic faith.

Joseph Gorizia studied from 1828 to 1831 in Giessen and Heidelberg law , his doctorate jur. took place in 1835. From 1838 he was supplementary judge at the Mainz Peace Court. Between 1841 and 1873 he was a lawyer in Mainz. In October 1873 he was appointed senior judge at the Mainz Higher Court. In 1879 he became President of the Chamber and in 1883 President of the Higher Regional Court. In 1892 he was appointed a real privy councilor with the title of excellence and retired in the same year.

From 1848 to 1849 he was a member of the Second Chamber of the Estates of the Grand Duchy of Hesse as a representative of the electoral district of the city of Mainz and from 1856 to 1873 a member of the Mainz municipal council. From 1874 to 1880 he was (now for the constituency Rheinhessen 3 / Wöllstadt) again a member and from 1874 to 1879 also President of the Second Hessian Chamber. From 1883 to 1899 he was a member of the first chamber of the estates.

From 1878 to September 1879 he was a member of the German Reichstag for the National Liberal Party and the constituency of Hesse 7 ( Worms , Heppenheim , Wimpfen ). He resigned his mandate on September 20, 1879 because of his appointment as President of the Higher Regional Court.

Joseph Görz was married to Franziska Barbara Aloisia Margarethe born Stumpf (1824–1885) in Mainz since September 15, 1848. From the marriage are u. a. Adolf Görz and Hermann Görz emerged.
