Kazuhiro Tsuji

Kazuhiro Tsuji (born May 25, 1969 in Kyoto ) is a Japanese make- up artist , Oscar winner and two-time BAFTA Award winner .

Career

Tsuji was born in Japan in 1969 and has worked as a makeup artist in the film business since 1989. His first job was in the Japanese horror film Sûîto Homu . Since 1997 he has worked as a makeup artist in American films. He worked as an employee of the Cinovation Studio, among other things, on the masks for the films Men in Black , Batman & Robin , On behalf of the devil and the Klumps family and the crazy professor . In 2001 he received a nomination from the Online Film & Television Association at the OFTA Awards, as well as a Hollywood Makeup Artist and Hair Stylist Guild Award and a BAFTA Award at the 2001 British Academy Film Awards for his performance in The Grinch in the Best Mask category . The following year, the remake Planet of the Apes was released, for which Tsuji received another Hollywood Makeup Artist and Hair Stylist Guild Award and his second nomination at the British Academy Film Awards in 2002 . Other films on which he worked, were Ring and its sequel, Men in Black II , Hellboy and The Cave before leaving for clicking in the Oscar ceremony in 2007 a nomination in the category " Best makeup and hairstyles best received." The award went to David Martí and Montse Ribé for their work on Pan's Labyrinth . He received his second Oscar nomination at the 2008 Academy Awards for his performance with Rick Baker for Norbit .

In The Strange Case of Benjamin Button by David Fincher with Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchett in the leading roles, he worked with other make-up artists, and was awarded an OFTA award with his colleagues. At the Academy Awards that followed, Greg Cannom received the Oscar for "Best Make-up" and the BAFTA Awards honored Jean Ann Black and Colleen Callaghan . For his artistic achievement in the film The Darkest Hour , in which he was responsible for Gary Oldman's mask, Tsuji received his second award at the British Academy Film Awards 2018 and won the Academy Award in the same category at the 2018 Academy Awards.

He has appeared in several films in which Eddie Murphy ( the Klumps family and the crazy professor , The Haunted Mansion , Life Prison and Norbit ), Will Smith ( Men in Black , Men in Black II and Wild Wild West (film) ), Adam Sandler ( Click , Chuck and Larry , Don't Mess With The Mess Or My Made Up Wife ) and Brad Pitt ( The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button , Killing Them Softly ) starring.
