Klein Belitz is a municipality in the Rostock district in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania (Germany). The community is administered by the Bützow-Land office , based in the city of Bützow .

The community of Klein Belitz is located between Bützow and Rostock . The predominantly flat area from the Warnowtal to Neukirchener Plage , a protected wetland area, barely reaches 20 m above sea level. NN.
Klein Belitz is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Satow in the north, Bröbberow in the northeast, Schwaan in the east, Vorbeck in the southeast, Bützow in the south, Bernitt and Penzin in the west and Jürgenshagen in the northwest.

history
Belitz, whose name suggests a Slavic settlement, appears for the first time in a document in 1270. The last owner of the Klein Belitz estate was Carl-Friedrich von Langen , who won two gold medals in dressage at the 1928 Summer Olympics in Amsterdam.
Groß Belitz was incorporated on July 1, 1950. On August 1, 2001, Klein Belitz merged with Selow to form the new municipality of Selow, which was renamed Klein Belitz the following day.

The local museum in Klein Belitz, which was set up in the warehouse , the village church in the Neukirchen district (with cross vaults and late Romanesque chancel) and the small half-timbered chapel in the Passin district from the 17th century are well worth seeing . The classicist Klein Belitz manor (from 1825), formerly owned by the Barons von Langen , is for sale.
Village church in Neukirchen
The Neukirchen village church is a field stone building from the 13th century. The tower has four shield gables and an eight-sided helmet . It houses two bells that were probably cast in the Middle Ages. There is a sundial on the south side. The interior furnishings include a wooden baptismal font from the 17th century, pulpit and altar from 1728, a crucifix from the 13th century and a plaque that has been listing the pastors since 1568. In the choir there are two window paintings depicting Saints Peter and Paul. The stone wall surrounding the churchyard was restored in 1995. In the churchyard there are wrought iron grave crosses from the 18th and 19th centuries. In May 2007 the daughter of the new pastor found nine gold coins from the 15th century, some of which were wrapped in linen. After the ownership issue has been clarified, these belong to the parish, but are kept in a safe place.
In the village church there is a historic organ from 1768, built by the organ builder Paul Schmidt (Rostock).
Economy and Infrastructure
Agriculture and small handicraft businesses shape the area, in Klein Belitz there is a school and a day-care center.
The connecting road from Bützow to Rostock or Bad Doberan runs through the community . The districts of Neukirchen and Reinstorf are close to the Kröpelin motorway junction ( A 20 ). The next train stations are in the nearby towns of Bützow and Schwaan .
