The municipality of Wiendorf is located at the gates of the city of Schwaan on the right bank of the Warnow .

The districts of Neu Wiendorf, Niendorf and Zeez belong to Wiendorf. The place is called "Biendorf" on an old map. The renaming was probably done to avoid confusion with the other Biendorf near Kühlungsborn.
