Lamberto Dalla Costa
Lamberto Dalla Costa (born April 14, 1920 in Crespano del Grappa , † October 29, 1982 in Bergamo ) was an Italian bobsledder and Olympic champion .
During World War II , Dalla Costa volunteered for the Aeronautica Militare , the Italian air force. He flew combat aircraft and helicopter missions and was promoted to sergeant . In 1951 he turned to bobsleigh as a sports soldier , but trained and drove almost exclusively on the track in Cortina d'Ampezzo . He used his home advantage and won the gold medal in the two-man bobsleigh at the 1956 Winter Olympics together with Giacomo Conti .
