Erich Schärer (born September 1, 1946 in Zurich ) is a former Swiss bobsleigh pilot and Olympic champion .

He won the bronze medal in the two-man bobsleigh and the silver medal in the four-man bobsleigh at the 1976 Winter Olympics in Innsbruck . He was able to surpass this performance at the 1980 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid . He won the gold medal in the two-man bob and the silver medal in the four-man bob.

Together with his long-time pusher Josef Benz , Schärer also won a total of 14 medals at world championships and 9 medals at European championships.

After his bobsleigh career, he worked as a manager in the sporting goods trade. Since 1976 he has been chairman of the Zuerichsee bobsleigh club.
