Alexander Rödiger (born May 14, 1985 in Eisenach ) is a German bobsleigh driver .

life and career

The pusher has been active since 2005 and competes for the BRC Thuringia . Rödiger is currently part of Nico Walther's bobsleigh team .

In 2006 he won the bronze medal in Sven Rocho's foursome at the Junior World Championships and took top places in the European Cup. In the 2006/07 season he was also able to achieve World Cup placements among the top ten for the first time. In 2010 Alexander Rödiger took part as a bobsleigh driver at the Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver and won the silver medal with André Lange's four-man bobsleigh . For this achievement Rödiger was awarded the Silver Laurel Leaf by Federal President Horst Köhler on April 30, 2010 .

In 2013 and 2015 he was part of Maximilian Arndt's crew , who became world champion in the four-man bobsleigh. As part of Nico Walther's crew, he took part in the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang and won the silver medal in the four-man bobsleigh.

In October 2018 he was made an honorary citizen of the then city of Creuzburg . Rödiger is a sports soldier and lives in Oberhof .
