Patrick Martin

Patrick Henry Martin (born August 19, 1923 in Louisville , New York , † April 21, 1987 in Massena , New York) was an American bobsledder .

Martin was a police officer by profession. At the 1948 Winter Olympics in St. Moritz , he won the four-man gold medal, and four years later in Oslo the silver medal in the two-man and four-man bobsleigh. At world championships he was twice the fastest in the four-man bobsleigh, in 1949 in Lake Placid and in 1950 in Cortina d'Ampezzo . There are also three world championship silver medals: 1950 in the two-man bobsleigh, 1951 in L'Alpe d'Huez in both disciplines.

At North American championships, Martin won twice in the two-man bobsleigh (1951, 1956) and three times in the four-man bobsleigh (1951, 1953, 1956), at the AAU championships three times in the two-man bobsleigh (1955–1957) and six times in the four-man bobsleigh (1940–1941, 1953–1954, 1956-1957).
