Rudi Lochner
Rudi Lochner (born March 29, 1953 in Berchtesgaden ) is a former German bobsleigh driver . Together with Markus Zimmermann , he became world champion and Olympic runner- up in the two-man bobsleigh .
Rudi Lochner started in 1982 as a brakeman in Peter Hell's four-man bobsleigh (German runner-up). In 1985 he changed positions and as helmsman, together with his brakeman Markus Zimmermann, was fourth in the German championships, in 1989 runner-up, and in 1990 for the first time German champion - both in the two-man and four-man bobsleigh.
In 1991 in Altenberg , Lochner won the world championship title in the two-man bobsleigh together with Markus Zimmermann. At the 1992 Winter Olympics in Albertville , they barely missed gold and won the silver medal in the two-man bobsleigh. At the two years later held Olympic Winter Games in Lillehammer (Norway), the team took fourth place. He was awarded the Silver Laurel Leaf for his sporting success .
Rudi Lochner is now an accountant in his brother's electronics store. He is the uncle of bobsledder Johannes Lochner .
