The 18th World Indoor Athletics Championships have been postponed from March 2020 to March 19-21, 2021 and, as originally planned, are to take place in the Chinese city of eight million, Nanjing .

Candidate cities

Nanjing was awarded the contract on November 26, 2017 at the 212th Council meeting of the World Athletics Federation in Monaco . The city had prevailed against the Serbian capital Belgrade and the Polish Toruń .
