The network of national roads in South Africa (English: National Roads ) runs through the whole of South Africa and connects all major cities with each other. The roads are usually marked with an "N" and the respective number of the national road in a green pentagon and are well signposted. Some sections of some national roads are subject to tolls (N1, N2, N3, N4, N12, N17).

Jurisdiction

The state agency SANRAL ( South African National Roads Agency Limited ) based in Pretoria is responsible for the system of national roads and other public roads . It is the technical responsibility of the South African Ministry of Transport.
