Mahir Sağlık (born January 18, 1983 in Paderborn ) is a German-Turkish football player . He is under contract with KSV Hessen Kassel .

Career

Sağlık started his career at SC Grün-Weiß Paderborn and moved to SC Paderborn 07 in the C-Youth . In 2003 he went to LR Ahlen . There he was not used and was loaned to SC Paderborn for the second half of the season. In the 2004/05 season he was awarded to Borussia Dortmund II . In 2005 he left Ahlen for good and moved to VfB Admira Wacker Mödling in the Austrian Bundesliga . After the club was relegated to the 2nd division in 2006 , he returned to Germany for 1. FC Saarbrücken . In 2007 1. FC Saarbrücken was relegated to the league , whereupon Sağlık moved to Wuppertaler SV Borussia , where he signed a contract until 2009.

In the 2007/08 season Sağlık was the top scorer in the Regionalliga Nord with 27 goals, after which he signed with VfL Wolfsburg . After just a few weeks, he extended his contract for another year. For VfL he scored his first Bundesliga goal in a 2-2 draw against VfL Bochum on the second day of the Bundesliga. On December 17, 2008, the UEFA Cup match against AC Milan marked his first international goal with a final score of 2-2.

On February 1, 2009 Sağlık was loaned to the Karlsruher SC until the end of the 2008/09 season. In the summer of 2009 he returned to VfL Wolfsburg, but received clearance because coach Armin Veh no longer planned with him. On August 31, 2009 he was loaned to his parent club SC Paderborn 07. For the 2010/11 season he moved to Bundesliga relegated VfL Bochum , with whom he signed a three-year contract. In the summer break of 2011 he moved to FC St. Pauli . He signed a two-year contract. During the winter break of 2012/13 he returned to SC Paderborn, where he signed a contract until 2016. There he became a top performer again and contributed 15 goals in the 2013/14 season to the SCP's promotion to the Bundesliga . Together with Jakub Sylvestr from FC Erzgebirge Aue , he was the top scorer in the 2nd Bundesliga.

When he was relegated to the 3rd division with Paderborn in 2016 , his contract expired at the end of the 2015/16 season and was not extended. Sağlık then moved in July 2016 for a one-year contract with the Hungarian first division club Vasas Budapest , who was coached by Michael Oenning . He contributed to the success of Vasas Budapest in the 2016/17 season with his goals, as Sağlık and the team reached the Hungarian Cup final after an eleven-year absence for Vasas and which they only lost on penalties against city rivals Ferencváros Budapest . In addition, they reached third place in the Hungarian league championship and thus secured a place in the qualification for the UEFA Europa League of the 2017/18 season. After the end of his contract in Hungary , the 34-year-old striker moved to Turkey for Turkish third division team Sakaryaspor in July 2017 . With Sakaryaspor he reached the promotion playoff final 2017/18 in May 2018 and lost it just 1: 2. After the missed promotion to the Turkish second division with Sakaryaspor in 2018, the contract with the 35-year-old Sağlık was terminated. He played 34 competitive games for the Green-Blacks and scored 15 goals.

For the 2018/19 season, the striker moved to the Istanbul province of Eyüpsultan to the Turkish third division club Eyüpspor . After four competitive games without a goal, his contract was terminated in November 2018.

At the beginning of 2019, Sağlık returned to his country of birth in Germany and joined the Hessian league club KSV Hessen Kassel .
