Michael Haaß (born December 12, 1983 in Essen ) is a German handball trainer . As a handball player , he ran on the position of the back center .
Career
The 1.94 m tall Haaß started playing handball at the age of ten. From 1993 he played at TUSEM Essen , for whose Bundesliga team he appeared from 2001. In 2005, Haaß won the EHF Cup with the TUSEM . He then moved to the HSG Düsseldorf ; the following year he played with the Rhein-Neckar Löwen and then from 2007 to 2009 with GWD Minden . From 2009 to 2013 Michael Haaß was under contract with Frisch Auf Göppingen . With Göppingen he won the EHF Cup again in 2011 and 2012. From the 2013/14 season he played for SC Magdeburg . For the 2016/17 season, Haaß moved to the Franconian HC Erlangen . At the beginning of the 2019/20 season he was assistant coach of the Erlangen A-Jugend. After HC Erlangen fired its coach on February 28, 2020, he took over as coach together with Kevin Schmidt . Haaß has had sole responsibility at HC Erlangen since the 2020/21 season.
In 2006 Michael Haaß made his debut in the national team , with which he won the 2007 World Cup . For this triumph he was awarded the silver bay leaf .
In handball he is right-handed, but writes with his left hand. Haaß is married and a student of electrical engineering .
