history

The region was the operational area of the FALINTIL , which fought against the Indonesian invaders.

On August 20, 1982, FALINTIL fighters, supported by residents of Mauchiga and Dares, attacked the Koramil in Dare and Koramil and the police in Hatu-Builico. This was part of the Cabalaki uprising in which several Indonesian bases in the region were attacked at the same time. The Indonesians immediately sent troops to the region. In Dare houses were burned down, schools closed and women and children were forced to keep watch in military posts. There were also forced relocations, pillage, looting and rape. The military posts were set up in every Aldeia in the region, plus eight community posts around Dare. FALINTIL fighters and much of the population fled the area.

At the 1999 independence referendum in East Timor , several dozen pro-Indonesian militiamen tried to prevent the residents of Mulos from casting their votes at gunpoint. The villagers voted anyway. As a result, the militiamen burned 90% of the houses and killed an unknown number of villagers.

politics

In the 2004/2005 elections , Antoneto C. Faleiro was elected Chefe de Suco. In the 2009 elections, José Florindo Andrade won and was confirmed in office in 2016 .
