The Mutua Madrid Open 2017 was a tennis tournament that took place in Madrid from May 7th to 14th, 2017 . It was part of the 2017 ATP World Tour and was played outdoors on sand. This season it was the fourth of nine tournaments in the ATP World Tour Masters 1000 category .

The defending champions were Novak Đoković in singles and Jean-Julien Rojer and Horia Tecău in doubles .

The field of participants in the single competition consisted of 56 players, that of the doubles competition consisted of 24 pairs. The eight top seeded players in singles or pairings in doubles each received a bye for the first round. The total prize money was 5,439,350 euros; the total financial liabilities were 6,408,230 euros.

qualification

The qualification took place on May 6th and 7th, 2017. From 28 participants, seven places were played out for the main field. There were also two lucky losers because Richard Gasquet and Steve Darcis had withdrawn their participation.
