The Shanghai Rolex Masters 2017 was a tennis tournament that took place in Shanghai from October 8th to 15th, 2017 . It was part of the ATP World Tour 2017 and was played on hard court. This season it was the eighth of nine tournaments in the ATP World Tour Masters 1000 category .

The defending champion in singles was Andy Murray , in doubles the pairing of the American players John Isner and Jack Sock .

The field of participants in the single competition consisted of 56 players, that of the doubles competition consisted of 24 pairs. The eight top seeded players in singles or pairings in doubles each received a bye in the first round.

The qualification took place on October 6th and 7th, 2017. Seven qualifying places were played, which entitle them to participate in the main draw of the tournament.
