Nikolsdorf is a Viennese suburb that was founded between 1555 and 1568 as a regular street settlement and is mentioned in 1594 as Niclßdorff . Your name is derived either from Nikolaus Olai , Archbishop von Gran and founder of the settlement, from the nunnery St. Nikolai in Singerstrasse or from its mother monastery of the same name in front of the Stubentor .

Nikolsdorf already had its own judge at the beginning of the 17th century. In 1727 the suburb was bought by the municipality of Vienna.

The incorporation took place in 1850 as part of the new 4th district of Wieden . In 1862 Nikolsdorf was assigned to the new 5th district Margareten .
