Patrik Antonius (born December 13, 1980 in Helsinki ) is a professional Finnish poker player and model, as well as a former tennis player .

Antonius has earned more than twelve million US dollars playing poker in live tournaments , making him the most successful Finnish poker player . His greatest success is winning the Main Event of the European Poker Tour in October 2005. In June 2019, Antonius was named one of the 50 best players in poker history at the 50th World Series of Poker .

Poker career

Antonius first made a name for himself in the poker world in 2005 when he narrowly missed the final table twice at the main event of the World Poker Tour . In September 2005 he made his first appearance on the European Poker Tour at the final table and finished third in the main event in Barcelona for 117,000 euros in prize money. In the following month Antonius won the tournament in Baden and received a prize of almost 290,000 euros. In December 2005, he finished second in the WPT Five Diamond World Poker Classic at the Bellagio Hotel , winning over $ 1 million in prize money . At the 2006 World Series of Poker at the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas , Antonius reached the final table of the $ 50,000 HORSE , finishing ninth for more than $ 200,000.
