Paul Engelen

Paul Engelen (born October 30, 1949 in Walton-on-Thames , Surrey , England ) is a British make- up artist .

Life

Engelen began his career on the film staff in 1969 as an assistant make-up artist who was not named in the credits for Clive Donner's historical film Alfred the Great - Vanquisher of the Vikings . In 1974 he worked with James Bond 007 - The Man with the Golden Gun for the first time as a make-up artist on a James Bond film. This was followed by two more Bond films starring Roger Moore , the last Pierce Brosnan Bond James Bond 007 - Die Another Day, and the first two films starring Daniel Craig in the title role. Engelen has worked under such renowned directors as Steven Spielberg during his career, Ridley Scott , George Lucas , Blake Edwards , Tim Burton and Clint Eastwood .

1985 he was for Hugh Hudson's Adventure Greystoke - the Apes: The Legend of Tarzan, Lord along with Rick Baker for the Oscar in the category Best Makeup and Best hairstyles nominated, but the award went this year to Miloš Forman's Amadeus . At the BAFTA Film Awards presented in the same year, however, Engelen won the award in the Best Mask category. In 1995 , Kenneth Branagh's literary film adaptation Mary Shelley's Frankenstein received a second Oscar nomination, this time with Daniel Parker and Carol Hemming , but Ed Wood won it . In addition, Engelen was nominated four more times for the BAFTA Film Award between 1986 and 2004.

In addition to his film engagements, Engelen has also worked for television, including the television series Game of Thrones , Emerald City - The Dark World of Oz and Marco Polo . For his work, he was nominated six times for the Primetime Emmy between 2001 and 2013 , which he won twice.
