Praecipitatio ( Latin for "fall, falling down", abbreviation: pra ) is precipitation in the form of rain , drizzle , snow , grains of ice, sleet , hail , etc., in the form of vertically or obliquely hanging trails ( fall strips ) on the Showing the bottom of a cloud and reaching the surface of the earth. This phenomenon occurs mostly in Altostratus , Nimbostratus , Stratocumulus , Stratus , Cumulus and Cumulonimbus . If the precipitation does not reach the ground, it is called Virga .
