The 7th psalm is a psalm of David and belongs in the series of lamentations of an individual.

structure

A possible structure of the psalm looks like this:

  • Verse 2f: calling on God for help
  • Verses 4-6: Taxation of innocence
  • Verses 7–10: Desiring the Last Judgment on its enemies
  • Verse 11f: Comforting assurance on YHWH
  • Verses 13-17: Confrontation of the wicked enemy with the judgment of the world
  • Verse 18: Vows
