Psalm 99 in a Dutch Bible from 1902

The 99th psalm is a biblical psalm from the fourth book of the psalter .

content

The psalm praises the Lord GOD as the exalted King who dwells on Mount Zion . In contrast to other psalms, which also celebrate God as King, here, above all, his holiness is emphasized. A total of three times it is explicitly proclaimed that God is holy.
Verses 5 and 9 represent a kind of refrain (which is slightly modified the second time), in which it is called: Lift up the LORD our God , followed by a slightly varied invitation to worship him on his holy mountain . As a justification, the refrain repeats the statement that it is holy .
