The Raccordo autostradale 6 (Italian for 'motorway feeder 6') is a motorway feeder in the center of Italy , which connects the capital of the Umbria region, Perugia, to the Italian motorway network and the A1 . It is located in the Italian region of Tuscany and Umbria.

The Decreto Legislativo 29 ottobre 1999, n.461 did not include the RA6 in the Italian motorway network, but classified it as a road of national interest . In 2001 it was given the designation RA 6 on the basis of the Decreto del Presidente del Consiglio dei Ministri del 21 September 2001 .

The RA6 is 58.470 km long. 39.380 km of these are in Umbria and 19.090 km in Tuscany.

The motorway feeder connects the road network of the Umbria region to the Italian motorway network and connects the cities of Perugia and Assisi with Florence and Siena .

The motorway slip road begins at Bettolle , where it is the direct continuation of the SS 326 that comes from Siena . There is no direct connection to the A1, but the Val di Chiana junction is next to the start of the feeder. It leads eastwards through the Chiana Valley past the villages of Foiano della Chiana and Cortona to Castiglione del Lago , where it runs along the north shore of Lake Trasimeno .

Passing Magione , he reaches Perugia . Here it turns into the SS 3bis, which leads via Terni and the SS 3 Via Flaminia to Rome .

Development status and administration

The motorway feeder has been expanded to four lanes with two lanes in each direction. Instead of hard shoulder there are alternative places. The road is toll free. It is managed by ANAS .
