The Robert Geisendörfer Prize (spelling: Robert Geisendörfer Prize ) is the media prize of the Evangelical Church in Germany . It has been awarded annually since 1983 for works in the radio and television sector . The Robert Geisendörfer Prize recognizes journalistic achievements that deepen the Christian faith, promote human responsibility, promote social cohesion in groups and the avoidance of violence.

The prize is named after Robert Geisendörfer (1910 to 1976), who is considered the mentor of church journalism in post-war Germany. His name stands for a high profile evangelical engagement in the field of the media in the Federal Republic. The Bavarian pastor and church council was able to convey to the Evangelical Church as a whole at an early stage the decisive role that radio and television in particular would play in the new possibilities of communication.

From 1998 two radio and two television prizes will be awarded annually. The jury can also award a special prize. From 2004 a children's television prize will also be awarded. The winners will be presented with the "Robert Geisendörfer Medal" which is endowed with € 5,000.

Radio and television programs of all types and lengths can be submitted for the competition for the Robert Geisendörfer Prize. B. Documentaries, reports and features, radio plays, live broadcasts, television films, documentaries and series and series (each with up to three parts), spots, commentaries, discussion programs and meditations.
