history

Aerial photo (1953)

In 1256 Rocliswil first appeared in a deed of donation to the St. Urban monastery . Originally belonging to the Counts of Frohburg , the Habsburgs owned the community from the 13th century and made it the County of Willisau. The Lords of Roggliswil ruled in their name until 1303. They sold their property to the Lords of Büttikon. In 1407 the city of Lucerne bought the county of Willisau. In contrast to the neighboring communities, the community was assigned to the small Landvogtei Wikon and not the Landvogtei Willisau. It remained part of this bailiwick until 1798. Then it belonged to the Altishofen district until 1803 and since then to the then newly created office of Willisau .
