At the 2016 Summer Paralympics in Rio de Janeiro , medals were awarded in two goalball competitions. The decisions were made on September 16, 2016 in the Arena do Futuro .

Classes

Only visually impaired athletes take part in Goalball. They all wear opaque blindfolds so as not to disadvantage any of the athletes. Of six players on each team, only three are ever on the field at a time.

Qualified teams

A total of ten men's and women's teams, each with six players, take part in the Paralympic goalball competitions.
