Each competition consists of a preliminary round and placement games.

Twelve teams compete in the men's tournament. In the preliminary round there are two groups with six teams each, which play everyone against everyone . The best four teams in each group qualify for the quarter-finals. Then the simple knockout system continues until the endgame. Ten teams play for women, which are divided into two groups in the preliminary round. Here, too, the best four teams in each group qualify for the quarter-finals and then the simple knockout system continues until the final.
