history

Steinsdorf was first mentioned in 1418 in four spellings as Stawstorff, Stanßdorff, Stensdorff and Steinstorff and for a long time was little more than a small manor surrounded by a few farmsteads. The place was politically subordinate to the bailiffs of Plauen and from 1559 to the Albertine Electorate of Saxony ( Amt Plauen ). The community later belonged to the administrative authority of Plauen and then to the district of Plauen until it was incorporated into Jößnitz on April 1, 1993 . On January 1, 1999, Jößnitz including Steinsdorf and Röttis was incorporated into the then still independent city of Plauen . Since Steinsdorf is still counted as part of Jößnitz, it is also part of this state-approved resort .
