Pot money hunter was a cooking show with quiz parts of the ZDF , which was produced and broadcast for the first time from 2010 to 2015.

Production and broadcast

The cooking show was moderated by Alexander Herrmann from January 13, 2014 to May 15, 2015 . Previously, Steffen Henssler conducted the show. It is usually not broadcast live, but recorded in blocks in advance and broadcast about a month later with a time delay. The first episode aired on August 16, 2010. The first broadcast of the other episodes was always on weekdays from 3:05 p.m. On August 30, 2013, the show with the 676th episode was initially stopped with the comment that it should be continued after a break. In October 2013 it was announced that around 15 other pre-produced episodes were available on ZDF, ready for broadcast. After the early termination for the talk show inka! With Inka Bause , the format appeared again on Monday, November 11, 2013, with new episodes in the ZDF program.

concept

Up until the turn of the year 2012/13, two women and two men competed against each other with three courts each. Since the beginning of 2013, every gender combination in and between the teams has been possible. Both teams had identical ingredients at their disposal, from which they had to independently prepare three courses in 45 minutes.

In four - initially three - quiz rounds, the participants were able to win additional ingredients (for example a lemon). The first three quiz rounds consisted of a multiple-choice question (with four answers). The final round was a guessing question that guaranteed one team to win. The teams had to choose the ingredients to be played in advance.

In the end, a juror decided who won with his culinary art. This decision was made by Frank Rosin until the program was temporarily suspended in August 2013 . After the show returned in November 2013, Rosin was absent, Ali Güngörmüş , who had previously acted as a guest judge in the 10 Friends Week, took over his role . After Henssler's departure as a moderator, he began evaluating the dishes in weekly rotation with Cornelia Poletto from January 2014 . The prize money increased after each cooking duel won (a maximum of four duels) from an initial 1,000 euros to 2,000, then 4,000 and finally 10,000 euros. The team of the day's winners could (in the event of a tie, both teams could decide) - after the new ingredients had been viewed - whether to stop and take the money home with them or start the next show again. In the event of a defeat, the money earned so far would have been lost again.

Between January 10th and 14th, 2011, Horst Lichter stepped in as a vacation replacement for Steffen Henssler. From February 14th to 18th, 2011, Alexander Herrmann instead of Frank Rosin assessed the teams' dishes.

In addition to cooking, the show also included some running gags . For example, Reiner “Calli” Calmund , Tine Wittler, but also the parallel television programs Storm of Love , Suspected Cases and Judge Barbara Salesch were ironically commented on. They tried to stand out from other cooking programs.

In the episodes that were first broadcast on Friday, one or more “Mails of the week” (in their own spelling “Flour of the Week”) were read out. As a rule, it was audience criticism, but also affirmation of the broadcast.

Another constant was “Henssler's quick number”, a dish that the moderator prepares in a few minutes from the ingredients that are also available for the candidates. From January 13, 2014, this section was titled “Herrmanns Chefsache”.

As a modification of the broadcast format, the so-called 10 Friends Week was created . The premiere for this was broadcast from November 26th to December 2nd, 2012 at the usual broadcast time. During the 10 Friends Week , one cook couple from each of the two five-person teams competed against each other, so that (theoretically) every team member cooked twice in the five days of broadcast. During this time Steffen Henssler looked after his Henssler SV on the one hand and Frank Rosin his FC Rosin 04 on the other. Reiner Calmund, Cornelia Poletto and Ali Güngörmüş acted as jurors for the 10 Friends Week .

Another modification of the format was the so-called “Profi Special”, which took place for the first time on December 22, 2014. Alexander Herrmann, Cornelia Poletto and Ali Güngörmüş usually prepared a five-course menu out of competition on Fridays in the format of a classic cookery program.

Trivia

In episode 150 of March 30, 2011, Steffen Henssler and Frank Rosin competed against each other. They were each supported by a former candidate. Markus Lanz took over the role of moderator , that of the juror Heinz Horrmann . The winner was Steffen Henssler.

In the episode first broadcast on September 8, 2011, roles were swapped. Frank Rosin moderated the show and Steffen Henssler this time assessed the candidates' dishes.

On the occasion of the 300th broadcast, two celebrity teams competed against each other in episodes 298 and 299. The respective winning teams then cooked for victory in the pot money hunter celebrity special on December 1, 2011.

In episode 350 (first broadcast: February 21, 2012) Steffen Henssler and Frank Rosin competed against each other one more time. Andrea Kiewel led the show and Heinz Horrmann took over the evaluation as a juror. Steffen Henssler won the duel again 2-1.

On the occasion of the 500th episode on Wednesday, November 7th 2012, the week of broadcasting from November 5th to 9th was celebrated as an anniversary week. In advance, viewers were able to vote on the Internet for the best "ten thousand euros" winners. They were allowed to cook against each other from Monday to Thursday. The winning team cooked against Steffen Henssler and Frank Rosin in the Friday show. This program was moderated by Ingo Nommsen , Heinz Horrmann was again the juror. Henssler and Rosin won the duel 3-0.

In episode 600, first broadcast on April 29, 2013, the candidates were selected from the audience before the broadcast and supported by Steffen Henssler and Frank Rosin. Ali Güngörmüş acted as a juror. The winners received 600 euros each on the occasion of the anniversary.

In the broadcast on May 10, 2013, there was something unique. Both pairs of candidates failed to place the prepared dishes under the globes in time, so that the juror Frank Rosin could not evaluate any of the dishes. Both teams had lost in themselves. But they competed against each other again on the following Monday and again cooked for 1000 euros.

On the occasion of Alexander Herrmann's 150th broadcast, two prominent five-man teams competed against each other in a modified 10 Friends Week in the week of November 10-14, 2014 . Susanne Conrad , Norbert Lehmann , Heike Schnaar , Achim Winter and Sina Mainitz cooked for the “ ZDF Mittagsmagazin ” team . They donated their winnings of 4,000 euros to Spendahilfe eV The opponent was the “ Notruf Hafenkante ” team, which consisted of Rhea Harder , Sanna Englund , Gerit Kling , Hannes Hellmann and Dominik Kempf . They won 6,000 euros, which they donated to the Sternenbrücke children's hospice .

A “professional week” was held from November 24th to 28th, 2014, in which the two jurors Cornelia Poletto and Ali Güngörmüş competed against each other. They were supported on Monday by an apprentice cook, on Tuesday by a friend they had brought with them, on Wednesday by a candidate who was previously selected from the studio audience and on Thursday by celebrities Sven Martinek and Motsi Mabuse . They competed alone on Friday. Alfons Schuhbeck took on the role of juror . The winner was Cornelia Poletto. So Güngörmüş has to cook a menu for Poletto's circle of friends.

From April 20 to 24, 2015, during the special week “Alexander's Gourmetrunde”, different prominent chefs were guests every day, who prepared a five-course menu together with Herrmann. At the end of the program, the dishes prepared by the professional chefs were judged by some of the audience. "Alexander's Gourmet Round" had a different motto every day. The participating cooks were Martin Baudrexel , Ali Güngörmüs, Karlheinz Hauser , Kolja Kleeberg , Mario Kotaska , Alexander Kumptner , Stefan Marquard , Cornelia Poletto, Sybille Schönberger , Andreas C. Studer , Susanne Vössing and Ralf Zacherl .
