The Britz-Süd is a station of the Berlin U-Bahn - U7 . It is located in the Britz district north of Gutschmidtstrasse parallel to Fritz-Reuter-Allee . Within the BVG, the underground station is run under the abbreviation Br .

History and equipment

The station was opened on September 29, 1963 as part of the extension of line C I in the direction of Gropiusstadt as an interim terminus. Since March 1, 1966, it has been operated via the U7 line.

The station has a central platform in a simple lower position with exits at both ends of the platform. The older southern exit leads into a vestibule on Gutschmidtstrasse, the northern exit was opened on September 3, 2003 as part of security measures by the Berliner Verkehrsbetriebe , which provided for two exits at each underground station, and leads to the park area above the route. The walls are covered with ocher-olive-colored tiles with a gray base. The platform supports are also gray, the superstructures are olive green. The building was designed by Werner Düttmann .

On January 2, 1970, the line was extended from Britz-Süd to Zwickauer Damm .

There is a single-track sweeping system to the north and a double-track sweeping system to the south . Two more tracks lead to the side of the main tracks in a southerly direction and lead to the Britz workshop, which opened in January 1971.

Since October 22, 2010 there has been an elevator system for passengers with reduced mobility at the end of the platform leading out of town, so that the station is barrier-free . The construction costs amounted to 900,000 euros.
