Cottbusser Platz underground station
The Cottbusser Platz underground station is a station on the Berlin underground line U5 in the Hellersdorf district of the Marzahn-Hellersdorf district . The BVG -internal abbreviation is C . The station was built as part of the extension of the former line E from the zoo to Hönow and was officially opened on July 1, 1989.
Location and facilities
The underground station is located south of Hellersdorfer Straße , which runs parallel to the U5 route, at the height of the square of the same name. In contrast to the other stations on the route, the station is not in the cut, but slightly elevated. A pedestrian tunnel provides access to Hellersdorfer Strasse north and Carola-Neher-Strasse and Auerbacher Ring south of the station.
The station has a central platform that is roofed over by a two-row construction over the entire length of 110 meters. Access from the pedestrian tunnel to the platform is via stairs with a ramp, which are located slightly east of the center of the platform. The station supervision building is located between these. Another functional building is located at the western end of the station. Superstructures, pillars and railings are painted in brown.
The platform covering originally consisted of concrete slabs and was later replaced by a concrete block pavement in a special association. The platform edges are still made of concrete and are characterized by a 60 centimeter wide white safety strip.
