Elsterwerdaer Platz underground station
The Elsterwerdaer Platz is located above ground metro station of the Berlin U-Bahn - U5 . Located just south of the eponymous square in the district Biesdorf of Marzahn-Hellersdorf , approximately 1120 meters northeast of the subway station Biesdorf-South and 1350 meters southwest of the station Wuhletal .
It is named after the small town of Elsterwerda in the Elbe-Elster district of Brandenburg .
History and structure
The underground station was built as part of the extension of the former line E, which started in 1985 and ended at the Tierpark underground station , and opened together with the Biesdorf-Süd station on July 1, 1988. The construction of the subway, it took in this stretch, the former railway line of VnK Railway to Kaulsdorf. For one year, the station formed the provisional final stop of today's underground line U5. One year later, on July 1, 1989, the extension to Hönow was completed.
The train station is one of the few Berlin subway stations on the embankment. It has a central platform 120 meters long and 12 meters wide , which can be reached via a particularly long and winding ramp and will therefore not be barrier-free until the end of 2019 . In the station building there are information boards about the eponymous place Elsterwerda.

At the Elsterwerdaer Platz underground station you can change to the bus lines X69, 108, 154, 169, 190, 398 and N69 (night line) of the BVG .
