Ulf Siemes (born May 14, 1978 in Oberhausen ) is a former German rower who was world champion with the eighth in 2006 .

Athletic career

Ulf Siemes won the 1995 Junior World Championships with eighth place . In 1996, he and Bernd Heidicker took second place in the two without a helmsman . In 1997, Siemes won the U23 World Championships with the eighth , in 1998 the German eighth received the bronze medal, in 1999 the silver medal; in the fourth participation in 2000, Siemes won another gold medal.

2001 Ulf Siemes took part in the world championships in the adult class for the first time and received the bronze medal behind the boats from Romania and Croatia with the eighth place. In the Rowing World Cup , the German eighth took first place twice in 2002 and was only defeated in Lucerne against the US eighth. At the World Championships in Seville, the Canadians won ahead of the Germany eighth and the US eighth. In 2003, the German eighth won two World Cup regattas again and finished second in Lucerne, while the German eighth came home as the sixth boat at the World Championships in Milan . At the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens , the German eighth place was fourth and missed the bronze medal by four seconds.

For Siemes, who has competed in all World Cup regattas and all championship finals every year since 2002, his career in Germany ended in 2007.

The 2.02 m tall Ulf Siemes from the Oberhausen rowing club was three times first and five times second at the German championships in the eighth place from 1997 to 2004. In 2001 he also won in a four without a helmsman and in 2002 in a two with a helmsman .
