Ulla Geiger (* 1951 in Garmisch-Partenkirchen ) is a German actress and filmmaker .

Life

Training and cabaret

Geiger first studied mathematics at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich from the winter semester of 1970/71 , then art at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich . In 1980 she passed the Bavarian State Examination. From 1980 to 1992 she worked as a continuity and assistant director .

From 1992 to 2002 she was artistically active as a cabaret artist . a. from 1992 to 1994 as the duo "Boschetsrieder & Hinterpaintner" (1994; 3rd prize at the executioners' ax ) and from 1995 with their solo programs as the Bavarian housewife "Alberta Wurmrieder" (2003; prize from the Wolf-Ferrari-Haus cultural center in Munich ). As a cabaret artist, she also appeared on TV at Otti's Schlachthof .

Since 1996 she has worked as an actress on television and in the cinema. Geiger was mainly used as a classic supporting actress who gave a role an artistic profile in a few scenes. Caretakers, shopkeepers, secretaries, small employees and neighbors were part of their range of roles. She belongs to the type of popular actress . She often played in productions of the Bavarian Radio , but also in numerous television games , TV series and TV series of ARD and ZDF . It was used very often in series with a South German , Upper Bavarian or Austrian background.

Geiger also acted in a few movies . In the comedy Erkan & Stefan in The Death Comes Krass (2005) she played "Mutti", a Rhinelander on a cruise , at the side of Michael Gahr . In the movie Räuber Kneißl (2008) by Marcus H. Rosenmüller she played the farmer Filomena. In Doris Dörrie's film Die Friseuse (2010) , Geiger was the clerk at the employment office. In the movie Summer in Orange (2011) she played the role of the villager Ms. Rabbit. In the movie Da geht noch was (2013) she was seen in a scene with Florian David Fitz and Henry Hübchen . In Simon Verhoeven's cinema comedy Willkommen bei den Hartmanns (2016) she played the racist and reactionary neighbor Ms. Sobrowitsch. In Fack ju Göhte 3 by Bora Drachtkin she was seen as the "woman with the chipped dog ".

In the short film Border Patrol (2013) by Peter Baumann , which won an Oscar in the category “Best Foreign Film” at the Student Academy Awards , Geiger played a supporting role as the farmer's wife.

Radio plays

Geiger also appeared in a few radio plays , mostly in productions of the Bavarian Radio. She was u. a. several times as a kiosk owner Nanni in the radio scene to hear, so in office hours (2009) and The Stalker (2012).

Filmmaker

In his mid-60s, Geiger made her debut feature film Wir haben kein Film (2017) as a “late caller” . It received good reviews from the press and has won several awards and nominations. Among other things, it was nominated for “Best Debut Film” at the Biberach Film Festival 2018 and received special attention from the public and press at the Snowdance Independent Film Festival 2018.

The satirical comedy We don't make a film , which was published by the distributor “Der Filmverleih” and whose premiere planned for March 2020 and the subsequent theatrical release had to be canceled due to the cinemas being closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic in Germany , has now been published online on the streaming platform “Kinoflimmern " released.

Private

Geiger lives in Munich , where, in addition to her acting, she also offers her own demo tape service for actors.
