Valon Berisha (born February 7, 1993 in Malmö , Sweden ) is a Kosovar - Norwegian football player . He is under contract with the French club Stade Reims . The midfielder has both Norwegian and Kosovar citizenship, and after initially playing for Norway at senior national team level, he has been playing for the Kosovar national team since 2016 .
Career

Valon Berisha was born in Malmö to Kosovar Albanian parents who moved from Kosovo to Sweden in the early 1990s . In early childhood, his parents moved to Egersund in Norway , a suburb of Stavanger . At the turn of the millennium he began playing football for the local club Egersunds IK .
On June 20, 2008, Valon Berisha made his debut at Egersunds IK at the age of 16 . In March 2009 he signed his first professional contract with the Norwegian first division club Viking Stavanger and made his debut in the Tippeligaen against Brann Bergen that same month . He scored his first goal on October 31, 2009 in a 1-1 draw against Lillestrøm SK .
At the end of July 2012 he moved to FC Red Bull Salzburg in Austria , where he signed a contract until 2016 with an option for a further year. Within a short time he established himself in the fighting team, scoring four goals in his first six games and preparing three.
In 2013 he injured his knee and could not be used again until the beginning of the 2014/15 spring season. For the 2018/19 season he moved to Italy to Lazio Rome , where he received a contract that ran until June 2023. For Salzburg he played 233 competitive games before moving to Lazio, in which he scored 45 goals and made 65 assists.
In Italy, the midfielder could not earn a regular place and in a year and a half, due to several injuries, he only played 22 competitive games without scoring or preparing for a goal. He won the Italian national and Supercup with the club .
Until the end of the 2019/20 season, the Romans awarded Berisha to the German Bundesliga club Fortuna Düsseldorf at the end of January 2020 . He played 13 out of 15 possible games for Fortuna. Fortuna did not make use of the possibility of permanently signing him after the loan deal.
In mid-July 2020, he moved from Rome to the French first division team Stade Reims , where he signed a contract with a term of four years.
National team
Valon Berisha completed a total of 56 games for Norwegian youth teams and scored six goals. At the King's Cup in Thailand in 2012 , he made his debut for the Norwegian senior team . He played all three games in this tournament against Denmark, Thailand and South Korea's U23s.
With the Norwegian U21 national team , he reached the semi-finals of the EM 2013 in Israel . There they were eliminated after a 3-0 defeat against Spain .
In August 2016 Berisha decided to run for Kosovo in the future. In the national team's first competitive match, the qualifier for the 2018 World Cup against Finland , he equalized the 1-1 final score with a penalty. This was the Kosovar national team's first goal in an official international match.

His brother Veton is also a soccer player. In contrast to Valon, he is active for the Norwegian national team.
