  • On April 28, the referendum on a constitutional amendment
  • Parliamentary elections on September 22nd (the first after the constitutional reform ). The Social Democrats remain the strongest parliamentary group in the Folketing with 74 out of 175 seats . The Agrarian Party wins 42 seats, the Conservatives 30. Hans Hedtoft (1903–1955) becomes the new Prime Minister ; it forms a social democratic minority government.
