The Ladbrokes World Grand Prix 2017 was a snooker tournament of the Snooker Main Tour for the 2016/17 season . It was held from February 6 to 12, 2017 in the Guild Hall in Preston , England . In the previous two years, the tournament was held in Wales in March .

A seeding list was created for the tournament analogous to the world rankings. Only the prize money won in the current season was taken into account in this ranking list, i.e. only the results from the Riga Masters 2016 to the German Masters 2017 . The top 32 of this evaluation were allowed to start.

The defending champion was the Englishman Shaun Murphy , he was eliminated in the quarter-finals. The winner was Barry Hawkins from England . For him it was the third tournament victory in his career.

Prize money

The prize money remained unchanged compared to the two previous editions of the tournament.

Prize money
winner £ 100,000
finalist £ 35,000
Semi-finalist £ 20,000
Quarter finalist £ 10,000
Round of 16 £ 5,000
Last 32 £ 2,500
Highest break £ 5,000
All in all £ 300,000

The "Rolling 147 Prize" for a maximum break for the tournament was £ 5,000. Since no maximum break was achieved, £ 10,000 has been awarded for the 2017 Welsh Open .

Tournament results

The seeding list of the tournament corresponded to the money list of the 32 most successful professional players of the 2016/17 season (up to and including the German Masters 2017). They competed against each other according to the standard approach for 32 players.
