StrawberryNET is Hong Kong-based online cosmetics company providing a very large range of cosmetic items including make up, skincare and fragrance. The company describes itself as “The Fresh Cosmetic Company”.

Background & History

Strawberry Limited was founded in 1997 and the StrawberryNET website was launched in 1998. In the 1990’s, when online shopping was in its infancy, StrawberryNET was one of the pioneers in online shopping along with contemporaries such as Amazon and eBay. StrawberryNET currently claims to serve customers from over 200 countries, providing 24-hour customer support in multiple languages and free shipping worldwide for certain items.

Overview

The StrawberryNET site includes over 20,000 items from over 200 brands, and it is possible to view the website in 11 languages and order in 20 different currencies.

Product searches can be made by keyword, by category or by brand. Each item on the website is shown with a picture, description and price. Colour options are also displayed for makeup items. Items are added to the customer’s online shopping cart by pressing the purple “Add to Cart” tab next to the price.

Payment can be made by credit card, debit card (for certain countries) and Paypal. Discounts are given for ordering three or more items, and shipping worldwide is free for skincare and makeup items although there are charges for shipping fragrances to certain countries.

The online checkout system also remembers a customer’s details for when they order next.

StrawberryNET uses Secure Server Software (SSL) which fully encrypts and protects all personal data so that it cannot be read by anyone over the internet. StrawberryNET also claims to provide a 100% satisfaction guarantee on all their products.

According to consumer shopping website Bizrate.com, as of 2008, StrawberryNET has been rated since 2000 by over 175,000 customers who have given the site the overall rating as “Outstanding”. StrawberryNET has also been a Bizrate Platinum Award Winner for 2 years in a row and was awarded the 2002 Logistics Partner of the Year by Hongkong Post.

Loyalty programme

In 2001, StrawberryNET launched their loyalty programme, which rewards regular customers by providing them with increasing discounts on progressive purchases, ranging from 1% on their second purchase, through to 10% for the 20th. purchase and beyond.
