Dianora Niccolini was born in [[Florence, Italy]] to an American mother and a father from an old Florentine family. Niccolini lived in Italy throughout the Second World War until the age of nine when her mother moved the family to the United States.{{fact|date=October 2008}} When Niccolini was 18, she left home to live in [[New York City]] and study art.
