Jerry Lee Lewis may be the first rock artist to destroy his equipment on stage, with several, possibly erroneous, stories of him destroying and burning pianos in the 1950s.

Oh, I'm not discouraged. I just do it for fun. I asked if you wanted to join in because I wanted to know if you wanted to play. (Of course, Wikipedia is already a good place to have constructive fun. :-)) Good luck! In the mid 1960s, guitarist Pete Townshend of The Who was the first guitar smashing rock artist. Rolling Stone magazine included his smashing of a Rickenbacker guitar at the Railway Hotel in September 1964 in their list of the "50 Moments That Changed the History of Rock & Roll". A student of Gustav Metzger, Townshend saw his guitar smashing as a kind of auto-destructive art.

Tropical Storm Norbert
Keith Moon, The Who's drummer, was also known for destroying his drum set. The most spectacular episode of this occurred during The Who's debut on U.S. television on the Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour in 1967. Moon overloaded his bass drum with explosive charges which were detonated during the finale of the song, "My Generation." The explosion caused guest Bette Davis to faint, set Pete Townshend's hair on fire and, according to legend, contributed to his later partial deafness and tinnitus. Moon was also injured in the explosion when shrapnel from the cymbals cut his arm. VH1 later placed this event in the top ten of their list of the 100 Greatest Rock and Roll Moments on Television.

Norbert's active now, which means so am I; I'm starting an article on it in my sandbox. Of course, the article is extremely stubby, but that's because I literally just got started minutes ago. Just thought you'd like to know.
Jeff Beck, then a member of the Yardbirds, reluctantly destroyed a guitar in the 1966 film Blowup after being told to emulate The Who by director Michelangelo Antonioni. Jimi Hendrix is also famous for burning two guitars at three shows, most notably the Monterey Pop Festival. He also would drive the guitar like a lance through the grill cloth of his amp's speaker cabinets, but this was replaced after the show and did not actually destroy the amp.

P.S.: I'll remember to take your advice, and read a featured article (I'll read Hurricane Lane (2006), because it had origins similar to Norbert).
Later instrument destruction
P.S.S.: In your spare time, come play a game here.

Kurt Cobain would frequently smash guitars at the end of Nirvana shows, but they were often cheap Stratocasters that were brought on stage simply for the purpose of destruction. Cobain and his band mainly shocked people with instrument destruction in their early career, as they came from poor town Aberdeen, Washington and could barely afford to replace them.

Marilyn Manson have been known to frequently destroy their instruments at the end of shows. They have often done so in such an aggressive manner that they have injured themselves, most famously when drummer Ginger Fish suffered a fractured skull. Trent Reznor, lead singer of Nine Inch Nails, was known for smashing his guitar out of frustration in the early years of his band. == Education and the Vatican ==

Found these:

* Academies in Vatican City:
** Pontifical Academy of Sciences
** Pontifical Academy of Social Sciences
** Pontifical Academy for Life
* Biblioteca Apostolica Vaticana (Vatican Library), includes the Vatican School of Librarianship
* Congregation for Catholic Education
* The Vatican Museums
** Has a reduced rate for students
** Conducts guided tours for school institutions (field trips)
** Publishes educational guides for children and youth
* Vatican School of Palaeography, Diplomacy, and Archivistry, run by the Secret Vatican Archives.
* Vatican City is too small to host extensive educational facilities, but the Holy See operates several pontifical universities close by (in Rome), which are often considered part of the Vatican:
** Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas (Angelicum)
** Pontifical Gregorian University
** Pontifical Urbaniana University
** Pontifical Lateran University
** Pontifical University of the Holy Cross
** Salesian Pontifical University
** Pontifical University Antonianum

I moved List of universities in Vatican City to List of pontifical universities, since they are not physically in Vatican City itself.

I bet there's more. :)

Julian,

I am the owner of Silk City Records, the label that releases all the recorded materials by Son Lewis. I am, in fact, a sole proprietor and owner of the data that was tagged by you as blatant copyright infringement and confused as to why you feel so.

I am new to Wikipedia and only included Son's information because several of his fans had asked for it.

Can you contact me to let me know what you think the infringement issues are?

Thanks,

Mr. Juliancolton

I am extremely upset and saddened with the recent news of you repealing my edit. I believe that providing the public with Alec Baldwin's opinion (or lack there of) on Microprocessors is not only beneficial, but vital. I'm sure before my edit you didn't know what microprocesors were, I didn't know what microprocessors were, who cares? CASH! In conclusion, I desperately hope that you reconsider.
