Deadwood garnered multiple Emmy nominations and wins, a Peabody award, Golden Globe recognition, numerous guild awards, and American Film Institute's Best Television Program for each of its three seasons. Following Deadwood’s success, Scott continued with Milch on the surf-noir drama, John From Cincinnati as co-executive producer. In 2005, Scott produced the pilot episode for the series Big Love. Scott returned to comedy to work with director Alexander Payne on the pilot episode of Hung, which was shot entirely in and around Detroit, Michigan. Scott stayed on as an executive producer for the series’ three-season run. In 2010, Scott joined Mike White to executive-produce the comedy-drama Enlightened starring Laura Dern. |

In 2012, Stephens began working on True Detective with writer/creator Nic Pizzolatto.
