In the beginning of the 2011 season Tindastóll and Hvöt from [[Blönduós]] merged into one team. These teams are located in half an hour drive from each other. Over the years those two teams has been rivals for some years so it came of some surprise to people in both towns that these teams merged into one. [[Tindastóll/Hvöt]] was in most part built on players from Tindastóll but [[Hvöt]] added some young and promising players to the team. At the end of the season Tindastóll/Hvöt suprised everyone and became the champions of [[2. deild karla]]. After the season the co-operation between those two teams came to an end. |

Tindastóll got promoted to the [[1. deild karla]] after dramatic season in the [[2. deild karla]]. Tindastóll/Hvöt as it was called that season lost their first three games of the season and fired their coach [[Sigurður Halldórsson]]. In his replacement was appointed his son and player at Tindastóll [[Halldór Jón Sigurðsson]]. After 11 games Tindastóll/Hvöt was in 6th place. Then the team went on a winning streak and after 17.games the team was in 2nd place. When two games where remaining of the season Tindastóll/Hvöt lead the league by two points. They went on playing agains [[KF]] in [[Ólafsfjörður]]. It was a tough battle that Tindastóll/Hvöt lost and at the same time [[Höttur]] who was in the second place got into the first place and only one game left. In the final game Tindastóll/Hvöt won [[Völsungur]] 4-2 and [[Höttur]] drew 1-1 with KF. Tindastóll/Hvöt finished the season with 42.points and Höttur 41.points. That meant Tindastóll where the champions of [[2. deild karla]] for the first time since 1999. |

Tindastóll played the season in the [[3. deild karla]]. Before the season Tindastóll appointed Head coach Sigurður Halldórsson to manage the team. Sigurður was the Head Coach of Tindastóll for two seasons in 1999 and 2000. The team was mostly built on home grown players and the team captain was Bjarki Már Árnason a veteran in the Tindastól defence. [[3. deild karla]] is split into four groups and Tindastóll was in group C. The group was fairly easy for the Tindastóll team. They won 10 games and lost 2. Tindastóll went into the play-offs and in the first round the team played [[Magni]] from [[Grenivík]] and won 3-2 on aggregate. In the semi-finals Tindastóll played against [[Árborg]] and won 4-3 on aggregate. With that win Tindastóll was guaranteed a place in the [[2. deild karla]]. In the finals Tindastóll played [[Dalvík/Reynir]] and won 1-0 and the winning goal was scored by their best player that season [[Arnar Sigurðsson]]. Most capped player that season was goalkeeper [[Arnar Magnús Róbertsson]] and Tindastóll most versatile player [[Ingvi Hrannar Ómarsson]] both with 17. games. Tindastóll played in [[2.deild karla]]. The team appointed former [[Einherji]] and [[Breiðablik]] player [[Sævar Pétursson]] as their Head Coach. Expectations where high in [[Sauðárkrókur]] before the season. Like most years the team was mainly built on players from [[Sauðárkrókur]]. The season started well for the team but soon the luck was not in their team anymore. The team main problem that season was that they didn´t have a goalscorer. Tindastóll never suffered a big defeat but the team lost many games in the last minutes of the games and in the end the team got relegated. Tindastóll scored fewest goals in the league. Left-back [[Ingvi Hrannar Ómarsson]] was the team leading goalscorer with 5 goals. Veteran [[Kristmar Geir Björnsson]] scored 4 goals along with defender [[Bjarki Már Árnason]] and defender [[Stefán Arnar Ómarsson]] had 3 goals. This was the first season in Icelandic football that 12 teams where in top three leagues. Before that time Icelandic leagues had 10 teams in top three leagues. UMF Tindastóll was celabrating it 100th anniversary. The team played in yellow kit with black stipes to celabrate the team anniversary. The team played in the exact same kit when they first played football. This season the team appointed [[Róbert J. Haraldsson]] as their head coach. The year before [[Róbert J. Haraldsson]] was the head coach of [[Hvöt]]. [[KSÍ]] the icelandic football federation decided that three highest divisions in Iceland should have 12 teams in the league, instead of 10. That meant 5 teams from the [[3. deild karla]] would be promoted this year. Tindastóll played in [[3. deild karla]] and people in town were optimistic that the team would get promoted this year. In the group stage Tindastóll finished second, behind [[Hvöt]]. In the play-offs Tindastóll played [[Víðir]] in last 8. The team lost the home game 2-4 and the away game 2-1. But because 5 teams where promoted all of the teams that lost in the first round played for one final spot. Tindastóll played against [[Leiknir Fáskrúðsfjörður]] and beat the team 4-3 on aggregate. In the final game for the last place in [[2. deild karla]] Tindastóll played against [[BÍ/Bolungarvík]] and won 4-2 on aggregate. Ungmennafélagið Tindastóll, commonly known as Tindastóll, is an Icelandic sports club founded in 1907 and based in Sauðárkrókur. Tindastóll is a multisport club and is best known for its men's basketball team which plays in the top-tier Úrvalsdeild karla.
Basketball[edit]
Tindastóll men's basketball team advanced to the Úrvalsdeild karla Finals in 2015 and 2018, losing to KR both times.[1][2] On January 13, 2018, the club won its first major title when it beat KR in the Icelandic Basketball Cup finals.[3][4]

Tindastóll's football department fields teams in both the men's and women's league.[5] In September 2020, Tindastóll women's team achieved promotion to the top-tier Úrvalsdeild kvenna for the first time in its history.[6]
