Malindi was raised as a multi-sport athlete who participated in soccer, field hockey, skiing, waterskiing, running, hiking. Running was her true love, and by 12 years old Malindi decided it would be the sport that would take her to the Olympics. After a successful high school career, she attended Stanford University where she held the 800 and 1500m records. Upon graduating, Malindi put her efforts into qualifying for the 2004 Olympics in Athens. A dream that came true on July 1st, 2004 when she won the Canadian Track and Field Championships in 4:04 and was selected to the Olympic Team.{{short description|Canadian middle-distance runner}} |
