Malindi was raised as a multi-sport athlete who participated in soccer, field hockey, skiing, waterskiing, running, hiking. Running was her true love, and by 12 years old Malindi decided it would be the sport that would take her to the Olympics.  After a successful high school career, she attended Stanford University where she held the 800 and 1500m records.  Upon graduating, Malindi put her efforts into qualifying for the 2004 Olympics in Athens. A dream that came true on July 1st, 2004 when she won the Canadian Track and Field Championships in 4:04 and was selected to the Olympic Team.{{short description|Canadian middle-distance runner}}

She was a five-time All-American at Stanford University and holds the school record in the 800m and 1500m distances.

She represented Canada in the 1,500 meters at the 2004 Summer Olympics, failing to qualify for the semifinals.

She won the Vancouver Sun Run in 2010 with a time of 33:06 over the 10K distance.[5]

She qualified to represent Canada at the 2020 Summer Olympics in June 2021[6] and finished ninth in the women's marathon.[7]
