Ughi is also the founder of 577 Records, an independent record label based in New York City, which he ran since 2001. From 2012 Ughi started touring with electronic dream pop duo [[Blue Foundation]], with tours and concerts around the US, Europe and China.

BLG of Downtown Music Gallery said about Ughi in 2006 "He just might be downtown's best under-recognized jazz drummer at present". and in 2009 was again described by BLG as a "free/improv wizard". Steven Loewy of Cadence Magazine said about Ughi "Federico Ughi is characteristically splendid, his drums serving as much more than a rhythmic undercurrent..."

Federico Ughi has performed throughout Italy, the UK, France, Holland, Belgium, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Slovenia, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland, Austria, Hungary, Poland, Belarus, Ukraine, Georgia, Russia, Lithuania, China, Mexico, Canada and the US.

Career[edit]

A native of Rome, Italy, he started playing drums at the age of twelve.[1] In 1994 he moved to England, joined a quartet, and studied with pianist Paul Bley.[1] After 2000 he lived in New York City and performed as a duo with Daniel Carter.[1] He has worked with Steve Dalachinsky and DJ Food.[1]
