Acidocella is a genus in the phylum Proteobacteria (Bacteria).[1] Its members are acidophilic.
Etymology
The name Acidocella derives from:
New Latin noun acidum (from Latin adjective acidus, sour), an acid; Latin feminine gender noun cella, a store-room, a chamber and, in biology, a cell; New Latin feminine gender noun Acidocella, acid (-requiring) cell.[2]

The genus contains 3 species (including basonyms and synonyms), namely[2]
