Tru-Life (a.k.a. Tru Lizzy, Lizzy The Kid) is a Puerto Rican rapper currently signed to Jay-Z's Roc-La-Familia. Tru-Life stands for The Righteous Uniting Everybody Living In a Fantasy Environment. His latest release is a mixtape called Tru York, hosted by DJ J-Love. He is also part of a loose collective of rappers, from New York known as Ghetto Inmates[1]. Among this collective are rappers Seven Dirty, Raze, and Saigon
Feud with Mobb Deep
Tru-Life first came to prominence as a result of a feud with Prodigy, of Mobb Deep. This feud is featured in the Beef (documentary).
Rapper Snoop Dogg wanted to co-sign Tru [2]. Snoop Dogg brought Tru-Life to the Apollo Theater two nights in a row [3]. Snoop Dogg is stated to co executive produced his album along with Jay-Z.
Other Conflicts
Tru-Life has been recently involved in a beef with Dipset, namely Jim Jones. The beef started when Tru-Life called Dipset leader, Cam'ron a bitch in an interview with Complex Magazine. [4] Later, at The Roxy club after the Puerto Rican Day Parade in New York, Tru-Life unleashed a lyrical assault on the entire Dipset crew. [5] In early 2006, a photo began cirulating of a Dipset affiliate wearing a Roc-La-Familia chain which was claimed to be Tru-Life's.
In Fall 2006, another photo began circulating which showed Tru-Life wearing a Dipset chain around his neck. There has been speculation that this chain was stolen from a member of the Dipset entourage, although conclusive proof of the owner has never been established. Although Diplomats member Jim Jones has challenged Tru-Life to a boxing match, the rapper has yet to respond.
