The Diplomats

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Diplomats (actually: The Original Harlem Diplomats , also known as "Dip Set" or "The Byrdgang") are an American hip-hop crew consisting of Cam'ron , Juelz Santana , Jim Jones , JR Writer , Hell Rell , 40. Cal , DukeDaGod , Jha Jha, and Freekey Zekey .

The subgroups Purple City (consisting of Un Kasa, Sheist Bub & Agallah) and more recently MOB (Members Of the Byrdgang , consisting of Jim Jones, Mel Matrix, Max B.) and Stack Bundles are also among the diplomats. Katt Williams - also known as Money Mike - has also been among the diplomats since mid-2006 .

Crew history

The Diplomats are originally from Harlem , New York, and are the mouthpiece of the street for many people who live there. Their constantly changing and innovative slang is the hallmark of the group. The founding members of the group are Dixi, G-Klapp and Cam'ron. The Diplomats are now international and, thanks to the duos SAS & Dipskate, also have rappers from London and Germany in their crew.

The word crew is actually wrong because the Diplomats themselves do not see themselves as a crew, but, as they say themselves, as "Movement" ( movement ). The rationale is that a crew can break up. (Jim Jones: " We're like a movement! We don't like to say crew no more because a crew tends to break up all the time. And we're not new either ".)

Further developments

In early 2006, the rapper Cam'ron in particular hit the news - he was shot in his blue Lamborghini on the way to a concert, but was able to drive himself to the hospital with a broken arm. Musically, Juelz Santana and JR Writer are particularly well known in Germany; Santana's recording "Run it!" With Chris Brown stayed at number one on the American charts for three weeks. His album What the game's been missin ' , which was released in the USA on November 22, 2005, also hit the 6th place in the American charts straight away.

Dip set in Germany

German rappers like to use the "dipset mentality". So mostly instrumentals, but partly also the rap passages are completely taken over from the original environment. Even the clothes of some German rappers correspond one to one to the American model. T-shirts in oversize (5XL) and striking colors (neon green, pink, rose and so on) are mainly worn with matching baseball caps and sneakers. Dipset exclamations like “Cheah” and “Holla at your boy” are freely translated into German ( Tscheah or Ruf dein ' Jungs ).

Juelz Santana and Cam'ron contributed a freestyle on the mixtape The John Bello Story (2005) published by Kool Savas . JR Writer is on the track Harter Brocken , which appeared on Bushido's album Staatsfeind Nr. 1 (2005). He is also featured on the Thank God Remix by Samy Deluxe from the mixtape Big Baus of the Nauf . Due to the joint connection to DJ Desue , the Berliner Fler was already able to make tracks with Juelz Santana ( Gangsta Mucke / Gangsta Muzik ). Eko Fresh also had a collaboration with the diplomats. Still your story on the mixtape Fick , Hell Rell, JR Writer and Katt Williams can be heard on the title track of the album, together with Eko Fresh and Summer Cem.
