Lydia Frances Polgreen is an American journalist who has been the West Africa bureau chief of The New York Times, based in Dakar, Senegal, since 2005[1].

Ms. Polgreen graduated from Columbia University's graduate school of journalism in 2000.

In 2007, Ms. Polgreen was awarded a George Polk Award in foreign reporting for her coverage of ethnic violence in Sudan's Darfur region.
